I Am Not Giving Up On Her
It’s been months since I’ve heard from birthdad… He moved hundreds of miles away last summer for work. We stayed in touch for a while, texting multiple days a week. Then around my birthday, he just stopped communication.. I kept trying to check on him, but it was hard when I got nothing back and… Continue reading

Total Shock & Awe
I got off my monthly Bethany birthmom group call and took my coffee mug back downstairs. I had a piece of mail from BraveLove on the table, and dad asked what BraveLove is. I didn’t know what to say. He’s never really been one to want to know about my adoption. So I said I… Continue reading

#AdoptionTalk – Navigating Open Adoption & My Feelings
It’s never an easy thing to navigate through open adoption, especially if it’s the first time for all involved. My birth daughter’s adoptive parents and I are currently navigating our open adoption. We are always re-evaluating things as she grows up. For example, our visits for the first two years were lunches in restaurants.… Continue reading

Finding Dory Reaction
I finally went to see Finding Dory in theaters (back on July 5th). I don’t like going right when movies open cause everyone’s there and it’s just too crowded for me, so I went with a friend on a Tuesday night. I’ve seen a post going around Facebook from an adoptive mom saying that Finding Dory is a movie that should… Continue reading

I guess it’s because I feel like I have a(nother) reason to celebrate now. I mean, I… Continue reading

A Few Adoption Misconceptions
I want to start off by apologizing for posting a day late. Things weren’t the greatest emotionally, and I didn’t want to put something up when I knew it wouldn’t be good quality. But as I couldn’t sleep last night, I decided to pull this together and go ahead and share it a day late.… Continue reading
About Me

Hello! Welcome! My name is Katy!
You can find me drinking coffee until it’s time for wine. Currently have 5 tattoos, but plans for more are in the works.
I’m a birthmom over 8 years post placement. I’ve been in a birthmom support group since November 2018, and will be leading my own come May 2023.
On Sunday mornings you can usually find me in the nursery or on the production team at church.
Various times throughout the year, you can find me staying with someone’s dog(s) while they’re away on a trip – so don’t be surprised if there are stories or pictures every so often.
