…I’m still here, I promise!!
Hmm, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve written anything. Quite honestly, it often felt like there was just nothing to say. Or that I had nothing worth saying. But reality is that so much has happened in the almost year since I was last here. It’s been well over a year since I last… Continue reading
I Am Not Giving Up On Her
It’s been months since I’ve heard from birthdad… He moved hundreds of miles away last summer for work. We stayed in touch for a while, texting multiple days a week. Then around my birthday, he just stopped communication.. I kept trying to check on him, but it was hard when I got nothing back and… Continue reading
Total Shock & Awe
I got off my monthly Bethany birthmom group call and took my coffee mug back downstairs. I had a piece of mail from BraveLove on the table, and dad asked what BraveLove is. I didn’t know what to say. He’s never really been one to want to know about my adoption. So I said I… Continue reading
Due date: June 30 (today)Birthday: July 8Placement: July 18 We’re coming up on a difficult time of year for me – the end of June and just the whole month of July. Especially this year – it’s like a repeat of May 2019… All the running around, and dogsitting, and so few nights in my… Continue reading
National Adoption Month Posts
November was a bit of a rough month for me. I participated in Ashley Mitchell‘s Adoption Awareness Month Photo-a-Day Challenge. I somehow managed to get all of my posts up on the days they were supposed to go up, even if it wound up being at night. Granted, I did snag the sneak peek preview… Continue reading
Birthmom Q&A – part two
Q: How do you navigate birthday and holiday gifts? A: Her birthfather and I do give her gifts, but really only when we see her twice a year for our visits. Those visits coincide fairly well with her birthday and a holiday, so that’s what we like to do. We try to talk with her… Continue reading
Okay, I’ve waited like two weeks, and haven’t gotten any more questions. This is what usually happens though… I’m going to go ahead and post this – because I can always edit it later or make another Q&A post if people ever do come back to me with questions. So, here are the three questions… Continue reading
I feel like I don’t have the right to complain that I’m tired. I haven’t even been awake for five and a half hours yet. I’ve done nothing that would make me tired. It’s just my depression that’s causing this. And I feel like that’s not a good enough reason to allow me to complain.… Continue reading
Dreams, Sparks, & Tornados
I struggle to concisely express the emotions I feel more often than not recently. The be frank, I haven’t even tried because I’ve been too busy trying to process what’s happening inside my head. I dream of things that I know won’t happen. I hold onto sparks of ideas that are possible. I feels like… Continue reading
Hello! Welcome! My name is Katy!
You can find me drinking coffee until it’s time for wine. Currently have 5 tattoos, but plans for more are in the works.
I’m a birthmom over 8 years post placement. I’ve been in a birthmom support group since November 2018, and will be leading my own come May 2023.
On Sunday mornings you can usually find me in the nursery or on the production team at church.
Various times throughout the year, you can find me staying with someone’s dog(s) while they’re away on a trip – so don’t be surprised if there are stories or pictures every so often.
