Total Shock & Awe
I got off my monthly Bethany birthmom group call and took my coffee mug back downstairs. I had a piece of mail from BraveLove on the table, and dad asked what BraveLove is. I didn’t know what to say. He’s never really been one to want to know about my adoption. So I said I… Continue reading

Birthmom Q&A – part two
Q: How do you navigate birthday and holiday gifts? A: Her birthfather and I do give her gifts, but really only when we see her twice a year for our visits. Those visits coincide fairly well with her birthday and a holiday, so that’s what we like to do. We try to talk with her… Continue reading

Birthmom Q&A
Okay, I’ve waited like two weeks, and haven’t gotten any more questions. This is what usually happens though… I’m going to go ahead and post this – because I can always edit it later or make another Q&A post if people ever do come back to me with questions. So, here are the three questions… Continue reading

South Dakota
South Dakota recently passed legislation that allows adoption agencies to discriminate against LGBTQIA couples. It passed, 43-20-7. I know there are people in the world today who have very different opinions about the community than I do, but that’s not what I want to talk about. Open Letter to Prospective Birthmother
Hey there love, I know things right now are scary. I’ve been in your shoes. I know how you feel. You’re afraid of judgement on your situation. A Few Adoption Misconceptions
I want to start off by apologizing for posting a day late. Things weren’t the greatest emotionally, and I didn’t want to put something up when I knew it wouldn’t be good quality. But as I couldn’t sleep last night, I decided to pull this together and go ahead and share it a day late.… Continue reading
About Me

Hello! Welcome! My name is Katy!
You can find me drinking coffee until it’s time for wine. Currently have 5 tattoos, but plans for more are in the works.
I’m a birthmom over 8 years post placement. I’ve been in a birthmom support group since November 2018, and will be leading my own come May 2023.
On Sunday mornings you can usually find me in the nursery or on the production team at church.
Various times throughout the year, you can find me staying with someone’s dog(s) while they’re away on a trip – so don’t be surprised if there are stories or pictures every so often.
